For some, a spiritual awakening comes through a major life event. But for others, like me, it’s something that’s been with us our whole lives. I’ve been able to sense and communicate with energies since I was four years old. I spoke to my grandfather after he passed away, until I noticed my mother’s discomfort. That’s when I learned to hide my gifts. But they never disappeared — they only waited for me to return to them.
What has taken me longer to learn is this: letting go of love is often harder than stepping into your spiritual path.
This post is about surrender. Surrendering to what isn’t working. To the patterns that keep repeating. To the relationships we try to fix because we see potential — instead of accepting the reality in front of us.
Sit With It: This Season is Asking You to Pause
Right now, we’re experiencing a potent mix: Mercury Retrograde, Venus Retrograde, and a Spring Eclipse. If you’re feeling waves of old emotions or confusion about relationships, purpose, or direction — it’s not random. It’s energy asking to be witnessed.
You don’t need to control it. You don’t need to do anything with it.
You need to sit with it.
Let the emotions come up. Let the tension rise. Let the resistance speak.
This is your chance to notice the truth you’ve been avoiding.
It might whisper:
“You’ve been trying to fix them, instead of honoring yourself.”
“You’re holding on to potential instead of the present.”
“You keep trying to heal something that isn’t yours to fix.”
And then you get to ask:
What would it feel like to let go, instead of holding on so tightly?
A Different Kind of Strength: Knowing When to Let Go
I’ve stayed in relationships far longer than I should have. Not because I didn’t know they weren’t working — but because I believed they could work, if only we healed, if only we communicated better, if only they did their part.
But here’s the truth I keep learning:
We are not here to fix our partners.
We are here to love them, witness them, and grow with them — if they are also doing the work.
And if they’re not? That’s your sign to stop fixing and start releasing.
We are never broken. We are always becoming. But it’s not your job to carry someone who refuses to walk.
The Spiritual Work of Letting Go

Letting go doesn’t mean you didn’t love them. It means you love yourself enough to stop betraying your own peace.
Here’s how I practice this, especially during spiritually intense times:
1. Sit With the Emotion
Feel it fully. Name it. Is it grief? Shame? Anger? Yearning? Let it rise and move through your body.
2. Journal Your Resistance
Write down what you’re afraid to lose, and why. Ask yourself: “Is this truth or fear talking?”
3. Decide Based on Clarity, Not Hope
Are you holding on to who they are, or who you hope they’ll become?
4. Ground Yourself With Nature & Rituals
Spend time in nature, cleanse your space with smoke or sound, or create a simple altar with objects that hold meaning. These remind your body and soul that you are safe to release.
5. Call Your Power Back
Say aloud (or write):
“I call my energy back from any person, place, or memory no longer aligned with who I am becoming.”
6. Get Support From Someone Who Sees You
A clairvoyant guide, coach, or soul friend can help you reconnect with your truth when emotions cloud it.
Book a session with me at markbarner.com/booking if you’re navigating spiritual transitions or need clarity through emotional fog.
7. Create Space for the New
Declutter. Say no. Stop responding to old energies. When you release the old, you make space for the aligned.
8. Practice the Energy of Trust
Repeat: “The Universe has always been working for me. I don’t need to force what’s meant for me.”
What Letting Go Looks Like Practically
- Stop chasing love where it’s not offered freely.
- Listen to your body. If your heart races with anxiety every time you see their name, that’s not love.
- Ask your inner child what they need. Then become that safe space.
- Unfollow, block, mute. Digital detox is real energy hygiene.
- Create space for new energy by clearing out old messages, photos, and reminders.
Spiritual Practices to Support the Shift
- Morning meditation to anchor into your own energy.
- Evening breathwork to release anxiety and emotions held in the body.
- Daily mantras like: “I release what is not mine to carry.” or “If it’s not love, it’s not mine.”
- Cold plunges to activate your nervous system and move stagnant energy.
- Sunlight + grounding every morning to connect with your body.
Supplements & Tools to Support Emotional Healing
- Magnesium Threonate — for calming the nervous system and supporting brain clarity
- Ashwagandha — for adrenal healing and hormone balance
- Omega-3 — for brain and emotional regulation
- L-Theanine — for anxiety relief without sedation
- Vitamin D3 + K2 — for mood and immune resilience
Life Only Works When You Flow With It
Letting go isn’t a one-time decision. It’s a daily devotion to choosing yourself.
Every time you say no to what drains you, you’re saying yes to what heals you.
The Universe isn’t punishing you. It’s rerouting you.
But you have to drop the dead weight.
The right love won’t make you anxious. The right purpose won’t require you to abandon yourself. And your spiritual calling? It won’t be found in chaos. It will rise from the stillness after you let go.
Letting Go is Spiritual Strength
This season is your chance to stop controlling and start trusting.
Stop forcing. Stop explaining. Stop proving your worth to someone who can’t see it.
Start feeling. Start releasing. Start trusting that if something is meant to stay, it won’t need fixing.
Let this retrograde season show you where you’ve been giving your power away — and invite it home.
Your clarity will come. Your peace will return. But only when you stop trying to make broken things whole.
You are already whole.
And your next chapter is waiting for you to trust that.
With love,
